On 17 January 2025, the Association of Portuguese Judges organised an anniversary event of the ‘1000 Robes March’ at the Porto Court of Appeal.
The “1000 Robes March” was a unique event that took place on 11 January 2020 in Warsaw under the motto: “Right to independence. Right to Europe.” The “March” was a reaction to the proposed law, forbidding judges to examine the proper composition of court panels, especially with view to the nomination process of juges, under the sanction of being dismissed from office. This law was called “the muzzle law”.
